Twitter’s Mobile Site Gets iPhone-App Makeover

Twitter has refreshed its mobile web site to look more like its iPhone client, with a twist: it's upside down. Touchscreen smartphone users sledding to chirrup.com will soon be able to access the new Web app, which resembles the official Twitter iOS client, just features the computer menu icons at the top instead of at the bottom of the screen.

Twitter says the new fluid Web user interface is built from the ground aweigh in HTML5 and that information technology should work with most modern smartphones. The Twitter Web app is non just a scaled-down client: it includes memory access to your timeline, mentions, direct messages (including conversation perspective), trending topics, lists and lookup. It also displays some inline media like images, merely you stool't upload photos yet.

The new perambulating twitter.com is not forthcoming just yet for everyone. The company says that only a small percentage of iPhone, iPod touch and Android users will be capable to access it. Chitter plans to rolls out the new roving version to other devices "in the coming weeks." You can substantiation whether you already have access to the new Web app by pointing your mobile browser to chitter.com. If the new version is non enabled, you will still live able to access the old floating site.

There isn't a shortage of Chirrup clients for mobile devices, so IT's unclear whom the new Web app is targeting. There are plenty of good Chirrup clients on iOS and Android, besides the regular clients on the chopine, so IT will equal interesting to see how many people will adopt the improved Web version.

Facebook besides made improvements to its transplantable site a few weeks back, fashioning the experience more seamless across devices. The difference seems to be that Facebook is using its mobile WWW feed to pull the news for its iPhone apps.
